John Calipari’s first six seasons at Kentucky were absolutely incredible. The five after that were good but not great.

He won the SEC regular season 3 times.
Made the SEC Championship game 5 times
Won the SEC Tournament 4 times.
His NCAA Tournament record was 22-4.
In those 5 tournaments here were his results

1. Elite 8
2. Final Four
3. National Champions
4. National Championship Game
5. Final Four

That. Is. ELITE.

He had just taken a team with 8 five stars to a 38-1 record.

Not only was Kentucky having success as a team, Calipari had sent 25 players into the NBA.

He proved that you can win with freshmen & sophomores. He proved his Platoon System worked.

This was going to be a machine that produced NBA talent and hung banners regularly until Calipari left.

Except that wasn’t what ended up happening.
