To clarify, I'm talking about reducing distractions in your native language. English content is especially addicting and it's very easy to let it get the best of you, which is why I recommend blocking apps where you access your favorite English content and replace that time with immersion in Japanese. Even if you think you're doing hardcore immersion, if you're honest with yourself, most likely you are wasting at least an hour or two everyday consuming English content. This is also why I don't recommend YouTube for immersion. Let's face it, Japanese YouTube content is not yet as interesting as English YouTube is, and when you get recommended those English videos, you're going to click them. There are many methods when it comes to learning Japanese, these include immersion learning methods like Refold, AJATT, MIA, etc and also other methods talked about by people like Matt vs Japan and ToKini Andy. With so many options, it's hard to know what is right and wrong whether you're just starting out learning Japanese or you are an intermediate to advanced Japanese learner. I want to help people distinguish the bad from the good when it comes to studying the Japanese language.
