Fractal, India’s first AI analytics unicorn, is preparing for an IPO. Founded 24 years ago by five IIM graduates, the company faced early challenges, including a leadership crisis that saw two founders leave. Srikanth Velamakanni, despite initial setbacks, returned as CEO and led the company to unicorn status in 2022 with a $360 million investment from TPG. Fractal has developed groundbreaking AI solutions across multiple industries, including a solution that reduced railway track crossing accidents in Mumbai by 75%. In this conversation, host Arijit Barman talks with Velamakanni about the future of AI, exploring whether it will be responsible or regulated, and discussing its evolution from mathematics to machine intelligence.
