Four calls for the Fort Worth, Texas Fire Department! Engine 2 and Truck 2 are deployed from Fire Station 2 - the “Big House” in the city center. While the crew from E2 runs with their regular 2019 Pierce Velocity, Tower 2 currently has a no less than 38-year-old E-One Hurricane from 1986 standing ready in the apparatus bay. Due to an accident involving their common rig, it is currently being used as a reserve.

The 1986 E-One Hurricane with a 135-foot turntable ladder (approx. 41 meters) was modified several times during its service life. For example, it was delivered with an open cabin, which was subsequently closed. Of course, the LED light bar was also not yet fitted in 1986. Despite its age, the vehicle still looks very good and was in regular service at fire station 14 until 2023. This is why it still bears the lettering “Masters of Disaster”. Within the FWFD and among local buffs, this vehicle has a real legendary status.
