The Full Circle project: Uniting arts and artists to teach, share and inspire- with Ossoma Nzinga (kimbundo- Lucio Ngungi).

Capoeira Movement session with Kimbundo.
In this session, Kimbundo shared his knowledge and experience on the rhythm(s) and singing in Capoeira.

About Kimbundo:

Kimbundo started Capoeira in 2002 in Holland with a student of Mestre Valu. He then very soon joined the Balança group, training with directly with Mestre Valu.

After spending 6 years in Holland Kimbundo moved to England where he met and trained with Mestre Poncianinho. It was here in London, during a period of five years under the guidance of Mestre Poncianinho where Kimbundo discovered his passion for Capoeira Angola.

During his time in London with the Mojubá group Kimbondo had the opportunity to meet, train and learn from many great Mestres of Capoeira Angola such as:

Mestre Jogo de Dentro. Mestre Cobra Mansa, Master Roberval who became great reference for him in capoeira Angola.

Also in his time in London, he participated in many different classes and capoeira Angola workshops with several different Mestres including: Mestre João Grande, Master Carlão of the Kabula group, Mestre Pedreira, Mestre Joãozinho (MarAzul), C.m Toicinho.

Currently Kimbundo lives in Angola, his native homeland where he teaches and is the founder of the School of Capoeira Angola OKUPANDULA, which has been running for 3 years to date, empowering youths between the ages of 9-21 through Capoeira and social work.

What's the meaning of Okupandula?
It is to give thanks or praise in the Umbundo language.

In 2015 Kimbundo met Mestre Moraes in Bahia and continued to maintain contact regularly travelling back and forth between Angola and Brazil and in this time their relationship grew in strength. In 2016 he invited Mestre Moraes to visit his group in Angola and to be the god father of the group and at this same event Kimbundo received the title of Contramestre from Mestre Moraes.
