How to do a Diesel injector leak off test ford mondeo mk3 ST TDCI,

This is a simple test to carry out and can be done on the Ford Duratorq 2.2 tdci which is the same as the 2.0 tdci and also the Jaguar X type.

For this test to work it take 5 minutes and is recommended that you have a timer or stop watch or just use your phone.

To do this test make sure that your engine has been warmed up fully and once all test pipes are in place.

Start engine and leave to idle for 2 minutes

Then hold accelerator at 3800 rpm for 30 seconds

Then idle for 30 seconds

Then hold accelerator for another 30 seconds at 3800 rpm

Then idle for 30 seconds

Then hold accelerator for 30 seconds at 3800 rpm

Then last 30 seconds at idle
25mm or less is a pass but anything above 25mm is a fail

If the injectors have failed your need to find out if its old age or contamination ( injectors contaminated due to fuel pump braking up ect)
