In 1989, the GDR Workers' and Farmers' Inspectorate (ABI), together with the Prisma editorial team, inspects trains and facilities of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. In addition to very clean trains, there are also many dirty trains. Damage has been unrepaired for a long time despite the wagon damage list, station displays cannot be changed, announcements are not made. The passengers make the best of their train journey, even if they only get seltzer on request in the Mitropa car. After hearing the TV report, the Deputy Minister for Transport, Herbert Kaeddi, expresses self-criticism.
