Is Gavin Williams back? The young pitcher has his second start back with the Cleveland Guardians holding the Detroit Tigers zero runs while on the mound.

The Guardians staff has been ravaged with injuries this season, but getting a healthy Williams back pitching the way he did on Monday would go a long way towards fixing up those issues.

Guardians starter Gavin Williams threw 5 1/3 scoreless innings on Monday night at Comerica Park. He struck out five, walked one and allowed four hits.

What wasn’t so encouraging was the Guardians’ offense. After going 4-2 on a just-completed homestand against the White Sox and Giants, two teams that have made life miserable for the Guards, they lost to the Tigers, 1-0.

It is the first time they’ve been shut out since June 15.
