Batti'-batti' is a traditional music style from the island of Selayar off the south coast of Sulawesi. A pair of male and female vocalists trade improvised poetic verse in a kind of dramatized lover's quarrel, all carried by the rhythms of a rebana frame drum and two flamboyantly-played gambus lutes.

Two of the all musicians - Diana, Sapri joined for the Europalia International Arts Festival in Belgium at 2017, the first time batti'-batti' had been brought abroad. I returned to visit them this year and record them playing in their element
