Most efficient methods ranked:
1. Practice tests / past exams
2. Quizzes
3. Talking to yourself (active recall)
4. Homework
5. Textbook problems
6. Reading your notes
Here is how you study for STEM test/exam
1. Read over your notes / teacher’s notes
2. Use flashcards/mnemonics to memorize
3a. If you had quizzes on parts of the material, do quizzes (and review)
3b. Else, if you have a lot of past exams, start doing those
3c. Else, do homework again
4. Do the most recent past exam
How to study for humanity (history / lit)
1. Read over your notes / teacher’s notes
2. After every section, summarize out loud
3. Use flashcards/mnemonics to memorize
4a. If you had quizzes on parts of the material, do quizzes (and review)
4b. Else, if you have a lot of past exams, start doing those
4c. Else, do homework again
5. Do the most recent past exam

You have to adjust how many of these steps to do based on how complicated the class is and how much time you have.
