Both the Romanian Deadlift (RDL) and Good Morning movements utilize most of the same major muscle groups, including the gluteus maximus, hamstrings, quadriceps, and the spine, however performing the Good Morning can improve proper loading of the spine, retraction of the shoulders, and core engagement. Utilizing a PVC pipe (for technique), a medicine ball or a barbell will help load the spine correctly and strengthen to improve setting the neutral spine, engaging and stabilizing the core of the abdominal and lower back muscles, and avoiding common mistakes of rounding the back. Depending upon the breakdown of the movement and technique of the individual will determine the specific audience to perform the movement, meaning all can perform depending on the coaching technique emphasis given and movement pattern proven by the individual to progress further, as most, if not all, movements have modification adaptations.
