apoligies for the poor video. I'm still learning the ropes of this video thing..

Anyway, part two of my Golden star build which leads up to the completion of the ship. this is a 1/150 double plank on frame kit by Mantua. from the outset I wanted to achieve a ship that bared the marks of years of service on the open seas, which is inspired by the old rickety fishing boats I used to see just laying on the cobble beaches slowly decaying under the element. I also wanted to avoid my Golden star looking like every other golden star so much of the outside of the ship was redesigned to give me a more sleek and unique look. everything from the gun ports and windows to the trim have been redesigned to give me a unique one off Golden Star. the steering mechanism was redesigned with the helms cables running down into the deck like we often see in these type of vessels and the stern turned into a cabin area.. all the rigging was aged and weathered to match the ship and the flag was replaced with a much better one. again weathered and aged. the kit didnt mention or require foot ropes so all the stirrups were made from wire and all the footropes added.

like all of my work I only used Revell Aqua acrylics along with Vallejo wash pigments for all my weathering and detailing and again all weathered to give me this nice old vintage look. all the brass was weathered and toned down to match so that in the end I was left with an old British Brigatine that has seen years of service around the 17th to 18 century.
