IERA District 22 - The Farm MX Indianola Hare Scramble 2023 - Kyler Lemrick. 50 macro class, 3rd place. This is the one that got away. False starts that are allowed to proceed just suck. Using an air horn for a live engine start ... idk what to say to that. This was the race that Kyler could have won. Given the circumstances, he raced lights out. Starting out near last in the first turn and finishing 3rd overall. He managed to put down the 2nd fastest lap time in the race, despite working through traffic from the false start. Kyler made the best of a bad situation. We couldn't be more proud of him. The amount of effort and funds we pour into going to these races only to have the race officials give up on a false start can be devastating to some kids (and parents), specially kids that show up early and practice. Or attended practices earlier in the year. Kyler was amped up for this one. I don't think I've seen him ride this hard or fast, ever. But just like life, got a kick in the teeth right out of the gate. Sorry Kyler. We're super proud of you and all your hard work put into this event. This is just one of many times life will push back on you and you overcame this like a champ. You didn't give up. You forced your will onto the bike and track. You could've quit and gave up, but you pushed, remained optimistic and pinned that bike wide open on those jumps. We can't wait to see what you do next.

For anyone wondering. This was supposed to be a 30 minute race. Kyler had 30 minutes to make up for lost time. What you may not know is how good his competition is. These kids are fast! FAST! There is very little room for error in many of these races. Laying a bike down is pretty much like giving up a position in the results, likely 2 or 3 spots. That's how tight these kids race together and how difficult it is to make up for lost speed and time.
