With colder temperatures coming soon, I feel the pressure to get the new chicken coop build completed at the homestead. This video is phase 1 of a 2 phase build process that I plan to complete in the next couple of weeks. Phase 1 was the "no cost" portion of the build as I reused saved building materials from my Salt Lake coop demolition, the hobby farm greenhouse demolition as well as repurposing lumber from my garage shelving changes. The coop will be 6'x6' which will accommodate up to 12 chickens comfortably with probably three nesting boxes and two long roosting bars. The coop will connect directly to the previously built covered wire shelter giving the birds a safe and fairly roomy living situation. The chickens have also done very well free ranging throughout the homestead so they have a lot of out of coop time in their future.
