As a lifelong King's Pawn (gambits please) player, the concept of a "solid" (read boring) Queen's Pawn Opening system never quite appealed. I'm evolving though, and taking my crazy Black Opening Principals to the White Side of the Board.

These are my first few games trying the Catalan and giving live commentary. Expect to see discussion on pawn weaknesses, active piece placement, tactics, and time trouble.

I chose the Catalan to start as it compliments concepts I learned in playing the King's Indian Defense and the Pirc. Next video, I will give a full (i.e. quick 5 minute shortcut) into how to play the Catalan now that I've had 40 or so games under my belt since this recording. I will also be exploring the Benoni on the Black side since my opponents feel the need to show me how difficult that opening can be.

Feel free to comment with other suggestions on Queen's Pawn Opening Systems because I (clearly) could use the help ;)
