1. *Timing**: Durga Bodhon is performed on **Mahalaya**, which is the first day of Durga Puja, though it’s traditionally observed on **Sashti* (the sixth day of Navaratri) when the actual worship of Durga begins.

2. *Significance**: According to Hindu mythology, King **Rama* invoked Goddess Durga before engaging in battle with Ravana. Traditionally, Durga Puja was celebrated in spring (Basanti Puja), but Rama performed the "Akal Bodhon" (untimely awakening) during autumn, which is now followed as Durga Puja.

3. **Ritual**: The priest, during the ritual, awakens the Goddess by chanting mantras and offering **bel leaves**, **lotus flowers**, and other sacred items to the idol or image of Durga. The ritual involves lighting lamps and invoking Durga’s divine energy to reside in the idol.

4. **Mythological Importance**: The ritual signifies Durga’s arrival from her heavenly abode to Earth, accompanied by her children (Lakshmi, Saraswati, Kartikeya, and Ganesha). It is believed that during this period, Durga stays with her devotees, protecting them and destroying evil forces.

Durga Bodhon is an essential part of the Durga Puja festival, as it marks the moment when the divine energy of the Goddess is invoked and awakened.
