Hey everyone, it didn’t take long for Dorney Park, Allentown Pennsylvania, to build their latest B&M Dive Roller Coaster. Join me on my mildly-cinematic journey to uncover the mysteries inside the Iron Menace.

Late 2022, leaked blueprints surfaced of a coaster layout for what appeared to be a B&M Dive Coaster on Dorney Park property. And it wasn’t long into May 2023 that flags and markings started surfacing around the suspected locations where a coaster would eventually be installed.

At the beginning of August 2023, a wall was erected teasing a theme for the coaster, with an announcement date of August 10th, which revealed the name of the coaster would be Iron Menace, inspired by the local Bethlehem Steel Stacks with a dark twist of a theme. To assist with this story-telling, they erected a walk-thru Haunted House titled Ghost in the Machine that would launch for their 2023 Haunt Season to tease the coming coaster.

Here's what they had to say about the backstory of “The Mystery Behind the Menace”:
“In the early 1900s, Scottish businessman Hiram S. McTavish opened McTavish Steel Mill, a direct competitor to Bethlehem Steel Company. Greed dictated McTavish’s every move, and he was well known to prioritize profits above people. With an eye on maximizing output, McTavish created a massive hauler he dubbed “Iron Menace,” a device the steel industry had never seen. The rail transporter moved workers and ore at record volumes and dizzying speeds. Suddenly the greedy steel baron mysteriously disappeared—no one knows how or where. Shortly after, McTavish Steel Mill closed. All that remains today are the mill’s decrepit shell, rusty relics and wild tales of the owner’s whereabouts.” – DP

Footers could be seen installed September 2023. Track pieces began arriving on property September-October.

The Lift Hill and first drop inversion-loop was installed as well as the ride station and ending brake run by the beginning of January 2024. The coaster was seen testing by the beginning of April 2024. Finally it’s time for us to ride and enjoy Iron Menace and all the brand new area offerings: New name- “Steel Yard” themed-area; New Sipping Container; New Iron Mill Restaurant; New Steel Yard Gifts; New Central Tool Annex Seating area; New Coaster Signage; New Re-Themed Ride for the area, MT Buckets; New Queue House themed to the Coaster; & New Iron Menace B&M Dive Roller Coaster.
