The negotiation for a new national minimum wage between organised labour and the Federal Government seems to have collapsed. As such, the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC have declared a nationwide strike, slated to begin from Monday, the 3rd of June. The labour leaders are angry over inability of the tripartite committee to reach an agreement with the government on their demands. This is coming on the heels of the expiration of the ultimatum issued to the government for conclusion of all negotiations before the end of May.
