The Kurdish army is made up of the Women's Defense Units (YPJ). They are part of the PKK which has been in resistance for more than 40 years in Türkiye. Their conception of the struggle also affects their daily lives and democracy is a value that is important to them as is the emancipation of women, thus being in line with the movement of struggle of the PKK.
