The RMS Queen Elizabeth was a British passenger liner operated by Cunard Line and built by John Brown & Company shipyards. The ship was slightly larger than her partner RMS Queen Mary and had an improved design and design.

Queen Elizabeth entered service in February 1940 as a troop transport ship during World War II, and it was not until 1946 that she began commercial service. The ship served in that role for nearly two decades, being retired in November 1968 and sold to a fund called The Queen Corporation in Florida.

After repeated sales, the vessel was purchased by Hong Kong businessman Tung Chao Yung with the intention of converting it into a floating university. However, the Queen Elizabeth caught fire in January 1972 while undergoing renovations and capsized in the port of Hong Kong. It was partially dismantled and later buried.
