Cap Ferret has long been a peninsula of oystermen in southwestern France near Bordeaux that boasts the widest and longest (312 km) of beaches in Europe. Bordered on one side by the Atlantic Ocean and the other side by the Bay of Arcachon, the oyster beds are still, here, but Cap Ferret is also a vacation spot little-known by Americans but beloved by the French.
