In his first "Pops Project of the Month" video, blade smith Walter Sorrells demonstrates the making of tanto point knife. The blade features removable, replaceable handle scales that attach using screw fasteners.

The knife features cross-cut vintage micarta handle scales and a blade made from 8670 steel, a specialty of Pop's Knife Supply. 8670 is an excellent steel for beginning knife makers looking for a great first project. In the video Walter tempers it at 400 F, but Pops recommends tempering it at 350 F for Rockwell Hardness of about 61.
