One of the experienced names in the Banking and Insurance sector, Serpil Günal, has started her duty as the General Secretary of DASK (Natural Disaster Insurance Institution).

Having successfully served as the General Manager of TARSİM and the Group President of Agricultural Banking and Bancassurance at Ziraat Bank, Günal began her role as the General Secretary of the Natural Disaster Insurance Institution as of July 16.

The transformation and renewal, which began in DASK following the appointment of Türk Reasürans as the technical operator in 2020, continue at full speed. Thanks to these steps, DASK successfully passed the test of the greatest disaster of the century, the Kahramanmaraş Earthquake. Furthermore, in line with its uninterrupted development goals, DASK quickly took new actions by learning significant lessons from the earthquake. One of the most important of these actions, which will be implemented soon, is the Compulsory Disaster Insurance (ZAS), providing financial security against all disasters, including floods, hail, forest fires, landslides, and avalanches. Our aim is to ensure that our citizens in different geographical regions of our country, which vary in disaster types, receive the special security they need through ZAS. Compulsory Disaster Insurance will offer a very comprehensive policy supported by the state without imposing an additional serious cost on our citizens.

Another significant effort of DASK is the establishment and expansion of local service units across the country to take rapid and direct action against all possible disasters. Additionally, DASK continues its development journey with many different projects that are crucial in terms of impact and benefit. We are delighted to welcome Ms. Serpil Günal, who we believe will add great value to our institution with her rich experience and knowledge in the banking and insurance sector, and we wish her success in her new role.

Who is Serpil Günal?
Günal completed her middle and high school education at TED Ankara College and graduated from the Mathematics Department of Middle East Technical University in 1998. She also completed Pedagogical Formation Education at Gazi University and started at the Ziraat Bank 10th Term Banking School in the same year. At Ziraat Bank, she worked in various departments, including Commercial Loans, Credit and POS Pricing, Personal Loans, Marketing, and finally, Bank Insurance. In 2006, Günal received her MBA from Atılım University.

Between 2017 and 2020, she served as the Deputy General Manager responsible for Operations and Technical at Ziraat Insurance Inc. and Ziraat Pension Inc., respectively. She was also a board member of Türk P&I Insurance Inc. In 2020, she was appointed as the General Manager of Agricultural Insurance Pool Operations Inc. and a board member of Agricultural Insurance Pool. While working at Agricultural Insurance Pool Operations Inc., she served as a member of the AIAG (World Agricultural Insurance Organization - Zurich) damage committee.

In September 2023, she worked as the Group President responsible for Agricultural Banking and Bank Insurance at Ziraat Bank. She also served as the Chairman of the Board of Ziraat Bank in Montenegro. Günal is a mother of one child and is proficient in English.

New Role in the New Structure
Currently serving as the General Secretary of DASK, Mr. Mesut Güçlü has been appointed as the Rapporteur of the DASK Board of Directors as part of the mentioned new structure. We thank Mr. Güçlü for his dedicated work during his tenure as General Secretary and wish him success in his new role.
