Flowering meadows, 360 degree panorama, view of 5 lakes and the Brenta Group.
June ushers in full spring in the mountains, making Monte Casale an ideal destination for an excursion. This time of year offers flowering pastures and fantastic views of the still snow-capped peaks of the Brenta Group. From the top, you can admire the Sarca Valley, which extends 1400 meters below, and enjoy a spectacular view of five lakes: Garda, Cavedine, Toblino, S. Messere and Molveno).
The climb to Monte Casale is a classic of the area, perfect to do on clear spring or autumn days, when the colors of nature are more vivid. The route is easy and free of particular difficulties, also ideal for families thanks to the modest difference in altitude.
An interesting stop during the excursion is the Rifugio Don Zio Pisoni. Built in 1965 by a group of brave volunteers on the western slope of Monte Casale, it was inaugurated in 1972 and donated to the SAT. The refuge is dedicated to Don Vittorio Pisoni, a professor and catechist at the Prati high school in Trento, affectionately nicknamed "Don Zio" by his students. Don Pisoni deeply loved this mountain and often took his boys there, instilling the same passion in them.
The name of the refuge was proposed by Luciano Bagatoli, president of the SAT section of Toblino and former student of Don Vittorio. This structure is a tribute to the connection between the professor and the mountains, a place that continues to inspire and welcome hikers of all ages.
Discovering Monte Casale means immersing yourself in the beauty of nature and the history of those who loved and valued this area. It is an excursion that not only gratifies with its views, but also enriches with the story of a sincere dedication to the mountains.
