In part 1, we're taking out the differential carrier from our Volvo P1800's Dana 27 / Spicer M27 rear differential, learning how to measure the pinion height without the official Volvo Special Service tools, and using custom tooling to remove the pinion yoke. I'll show you the tools I used, and take you through the tips I discovered along the way.

If you haven't done this kind of work before, you may find this differential teardown useful, and if you know the Dana 30 well, you might be surprised by some of the differences with this much less common Spicer 27 differential.
