The conscious mind is a place that's dark and grim. When it's your state of mind, you feel limitation, lack and a sense of death. There is no future, no hope and no life. All you can think about is what you can't do and what you don't have.

The God-Mind is a level above it, and I'm struck by how Florence describes it. It's a given that it's a much happier state of mind, when you feel abundance and life. There's a passage in the Bible, in Ephesians, that says with God, we are filled with the fullness of life and power. But Florence doesn't address that in chapter one of The Game of Life.

I'm fascinated by how Florence makes it clear that the God-Mind comes with a sense of purpose. It's a nod to the verses in the Bible that say that God has a plan for your life. The one in Ephesians said that God has a good plan, one created before everything. There is a purpose for our lives and our time here on earth. Florence writes that "There is a place that you are to fill and no one else can fill, something you are to do, which no one else can do." And a big part of that is that it's good. It's about ideals and a future goodness.

Florence does point out that we're likely to think of it as too good or unattainable. But when we are working with the God-Mind, we should know that God dreams bigger dreams for us than we could ever dare dream for ourselves. We are the ones making the shift from the conscious mind to the God-Mind and asking for what we want, but the plans God has for us would astound us. Abraham Hicks once described this relationship as being co-creators and I do think it's so nice God has the best in mind for each of us.

Thank you so much for listening. If you like this video, let me know. I'll leave another video of mine on your screen that I think you'll enjoy and I'll share my favourite playlist. It's 10 hours long and so soothing. I put it on as background music and it's perfect. I hope you are having a good morning, a good afternoon or a good evening, wherever you are. Again, thank you for listening and I'll see you next time.

Florence Scovel Shinn's approach to New Thought is practical, filled with references to popular culture. Shinn was attempting to bring metaphysical ideas down to earth for everyday people, and she succeeded. Affirmations are at the center of Shinn's method. She wrote a huge number of amazing affirmations which are still circulating in the New Thought literature and society at large today. Her books continue to appeal to readers who want guidance in difficult times.
