Just prior to her courageous and powerful exit at the 2020 Césars Awards ceremony in February 2020, Adèle Haenel reflected on what the awards mean to her. She won France's top acting award in 2014 as Best Supporting Actress in Katell Quillévré's "Suzanne" and in 2015 as Best Actress in Thomas Cailley's "Les Combattants (Love at First Fight)."

In addition, she was nominated as Most Promising Actress for her 2007 role in Céline Sciamma's "Naissance des pieuvres (Water Lilies)" and again for her 2011 role in Bertrand Bonello's "L'Appollonide (House of Tolerance)." She was furthermore nominated as Best Supporting Actress for her 2017 role in Robin Campillo's powerful AIDS drama "120bpm" and again as Best Actress in 2018 for Pierre Salvadori's "En liberté (The Trouble with You)" and in 2019 for Céline Sciamma's universally acclaimed "Portrait de la jeune fille en feu (Portrait of a Lady of Fire)."
