I was watching me some Yo Samdy Sam and her "Five signs it's both [ADHD & Autism]    • 5 signs you have ADHD and autism  . And I related to that video SO HARD YOU GUYS. So hard.

So I took a TON of questionnaires on Embrace Autism and I'm thinking...maybe I'm AuDHD?

DEFINITION OF TRAUMA PER THE TIP 57 (SAMHSA, 2014):
"...the term 'trauma' refers to experiences that cause intense physical and psychological stress reactions. It can refer to 'a single event, multiple events, or a set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as physically and emotionally harmful or threatening and that has lasting adverse effects on the individual’s physical, social, emotional, or spiritual well being' (SAMHSA, 2012, p. 2)."

OUR DEFINITION OF A TRAUMA TRIGGER: When the emotional memory of the traumatic event is recalled (often outside of the person's conscious awareness) that causes the same or similar physical and psychological stress reactions as when the initial traumatic event occurs.

Trigger warnings:

PROFESSIONAL STUFF ABOUT KIM:
Kim Neely, MS, MM, is a licensed speech-language pathologist (CCC-SLP) with several years of experience working with clients with known trauma exposure responses. Educationally, she completed the graduate-level course, “Trauma-Informed Care,” at Colorado State University and is currently a Certified Trauma Support Specialist (CTSS) through Trauma Institute International which she maintains through ongoing continuing education on trauma-iinformed care.

PERSONAL STUFF ABOUT KIM: (relevant to content here)
Kim is queer (bisexual, asexual, agender) and an ADHDer (and is currently in the process of questioning if she is also autistic (AuADHD)). Like many others in this world, she has her own experience with sustained, developmental trauma. She received help with healing been, and continues to receive help, from licensed mental-health professionals to help heal from that.

Kim is super tired of masking, and kinda ran out of hecks to give about it. Her brain is a veritable Olympic-level ping-pong match of facts, theoretical knowledge, in-depth research on topics of interest, word-for-word scenes from movies she’s seen once or twice maybe 20 years ago, and weird references to niche TV shows. So expect some unexpected weirdness* on this channel!
*(affectionate—cause she’s reclaiming the word “weird” from those who criticize her for it)
