In this guide, we show you how to stop your HP printer updating itself automatically. We would recommend doing this, if you plan on using anything other than genuine Hewlett Packard ink or toner cartridges with your printer.

Whilst we have used a HP OfficeJet 8015e in this video, the process remains identical for other HP OfficeJet 8010e series printers. This range includes the HP OfficeJet 8012, 8012e, 8014, 8014e, 8015, 8015e and the 8017 All-in-One. In fact, the basic structure of these menus is the same of many other printers too. So we would recommend trying to navigate this printer using these steps, even if you are using a completely different model.
