➡️ Despite hearing several songs by "The Cure" in the past, they were never a band I willingly listened to. At the time, I wasn't sure what to make of them. Requests for their fan-favorite track "A Forest" have been on my list for quite some time, and I'm finally giving them a critical listen. I can only describe this song as a "feeling", and discuss how Simon Gallup's bass line builds a brooding sense of unease. I also discuss the music theory behind the chord progressions, how the music "cinematically" complements the lyrics, how the song never truly resolves in the traditional ways, Robert Smith's clever approach to the guitar leads, and much more! 🌀🌳
