The Navy is bogged down with over 60,000 estimated administrative claims. As claims are being pushed into the court system, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina is gearing up for a mass influx of cases.

With over one million people likely exposed to Camp Lejeune’s toxic water between 1953 and 1987, more cases will be filed. Hazardous chemicals in the water have been linked to numerous injuries and even death. Injuries include:

Adult leukemia
Parkinson’s disease
Major cardiac birth defects
