Today I am doing a deck restoration to redwood deck with oil NOT stain. Stain did not last more than two months on my deck. I built the redwood deck back in 2014 and now I'm getting around to refinishing the deck with oil this time and from here on out. I should have done this the first time, but I had to learn my lesson the hard way unfortunately. Don't make my same mistake I made, just use a oil finish and not a water sealer stain.

Refinishing the deck process:

Wash the loose flecks of stain off the deck with power washer.
Ryobi Pressure Washer

Strip off the old hard to get stain with a deck stripper.
Behr Premium 1-gal. Wood Stain and Finish Stripper

Scrub the deck wood with wood cleaner.

Sand the deck with 60 and 80 grit sand paper.

Dust off and oil the deck.
