Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw showcased the Kavach safety system on a test run between Sawai Madhopur and Sumerganj Mandi in the Western Central Railway (WCR). The demonstration featured seven tests designed to highlight the system's efficiency and safety capabilities.

In the initial test, the train operated at 130 km/h. However, the Kavach system automatically brought the train to a stop as it approached a home signal, ensuring it did not exceed a 50-meter limit from the signal's foot.

During the second test, while navigating a caution zone with a permanent speed restriction (PSR) of 120 km/h, the driver attempted to accelerate to 130 km/h. Kavach effectively controlled the speed, ensuring compliance with the PSR before permitting the driver to resume acceleration.

Other notable tests included a level crossing whistling assessment, where Kavach activated the horn automatically at Level Crossing Gate No. 148, even though the driver did not sound it.

The system also provided continuous visibility of the next signal aspect in the locomotive cab, demonstrating effective cab signaling. In a crucial test, when the driver attempted to pass a red home signal, Kavach intervened, preventing the train from proceeding and ensuring passenger safety.

These successful tests underscore the advanced safety features of the Kavach system, aimed at enhancing railway operations and safeguarding passengers.
