We saw a huge schools of bait in different areas of South Bay just moving all over with an occasional bust in the water. My friend and I decided to cast the net and caught about 100 in just one cast. I thought they were mullet but instead they turned out to be gulf menhaden/shiners/greenbacks etc... These fish are a good source of bait for reds, trout, snook, black drum. We threw some in the live well and the rest we put them in ice. After a couple hours of drifting with top water and plastics, we decided to anchor and throw some lines with cut and live shiners. Within 15 minutes we hook up on our 1st red who turned out to be undersized. That was followed by a MonstA 25 inch trout caught with a live one. We managed to catch a few more fish using the same bait.
So, without further a dew, I leave you with this aWesome video.
