Yamaha has launched the 2020 WR 155R in Thailand at 105,000 Baht (approximately, Rs 2,48 lakh). The WR 155R packs proper off-road equipment and is

based on the same platform as the YZF-R15 V3. The slightly detuned VVA-equipped 155cc makes 16.7PS and 14.3Nm of torque -- 2.7PS and 0.4Nm less than the R15. That said, it makes it power 2,000rpm lower with revised gear ratios which make it more suitable off-road use. It also weighs just 134kg -- 8kg less than the R15 V3.0.
In terms of equipment, the WR 155R uses long-travel suspension -- 41mm telescopic forks and a 5-step preload-adjustable monoshock. Large 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels help the bike overcome any hurdles with knobby tyres which dig into the dirt and offer grip. Anchoring the bike are disc brakes at both ends, although the model in Thailand doesn’t come with ABS. We believe Yamaha could offer single-channel ABS with the bike if it were to come to India. The seat height measures in at a whopping 888mm. The tank, unfortunately, can only hold up to 8.1-litres of fuel. The entire package weighs in at just 134kg -- 8kg less than the R15 V3.0.
We believe Yamaha could price the WR 155R at around 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom) if it manages to localise the product in India. Tough, but possible.
