England batter Joe Root smashed a double century in the ongoing first Test match against Pakistan at Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. This was Root's sixth double ton in the longest format of the game and with this, he equals the record of legendary batters Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Virender Sehwag.

Joe Root received a stroke of luck on Thursday morning in Multan when Babar Azam dropped him on 186, denying Naseem Shah an early breakthrough. Root capitalized on this opportunity and went on to reach the impressive milestone, marking his second major achievement in the Test against Pakistan.
