Filmed in May, 2021.
A visit form the neighbor - handing off some more egg cartons for refills - as my lovely bride's "chankins" lay the best eggs.
I'm still in the testing phases of the 7310. Have yet to be impressed with the performance. But, I'm a little jaded. Having had the opportunity to run some really powerful saws, starting back in the '70s, I can tell if a saw has torque.
This saw struggles, as mentioned on the video. It runs on the lean side off the bottom in stock form - seen here down to the limiter caps present. This doesn't help the saws overall performance. I have a sneaking suspicion that once the saw shop makeover happens that will change.
Also mentioned, I am not sure of the bore or stroke of this saw. I've been purposeful there. I'm trying to remain neutral in an effort to have a nonbiased opinion. Based solely on the feel, I'm guessing a more "square" configuration as far as saw engine design goes.
We watched this chain handling hard, dead white fir limbs handily in the previous video -    • Echo CS-7310P Taking Out A Couple Of ...   - so we know it's not the chain...
Taking a look at the timed runs:
Stock Echo 7310 at 13,080 went 20.17 down and 16.43 up
Stock Husky 272 at 13,140 went 16.21 down and 16.82 up
Psy-Ko-ized 272 at 13,320 went 12 flat down and 13.47 up
The tach reading was with in 60 rpms for the stocker 7310 & 272. The zipped 272 is heard seriously loping at 13,320
If we look at the cuts, the Echo pretty much had a bye from the lack of knot(s) it had to deal with. The stock 272 was getting into a pretty good cross section of knots in it's cuts. The PSY-KO 272 had, and it was by far, the worst of the knot section and it laid waste to the stockers.
I fell a little with some zipped 272s "back in the day". They will handle a 32" fairly well in the right application.
What can be said, I'm well pleased with the Psy-Ko zippkitted 272 and it's performance.
At the time of your viewing this, I may or may not be available for custom saw modifications. I can be booked out a fair amount at times. If you are interested, please shoot me an email. That is the best, first point of contact.
