The first 12 seconds of the audio are distorted, probably because the album this came from, "Blue Navigator" by Michael Hurley, was originally released by Rooster records, which burned down, destroying the master tapes and many copies of the vinyl. I obtained my copy of this in the form of a CDR directly from the Snockman himself, Michael Hurley, via his website, www.snockonews.net . Thus his source for the recording may have sustained some damage, but as I said the quality picks up nicely as it goes along. This song "Open Up" first appeared on the phenomenal 1971 album, "Armchair Boogie". While I like both versions too much to pick a favorite, I do think the background vocals on this latter one are particularly sweet.
