Water auto ionizes into hydronium and hydroxide ions however only a small fraction will ionize. If we have a strong acid dissolved in water, it will break up 100% into its constituent anions and cations. It is important to note that the strong acid is assumed to have dissociated completely and if a small amount of it is floating around, we deem it negligible. In regards to weak acids, some acids will still be in the solution since only a small amount ionize. Ka is the relative strength of acids. The larger it is, the stronger the acid. Like any other equilibrium, use the Keq expression. The formula for percent dissociation = concentration of the acid dissociated / concentration of the acid initially x 100 percent. This is for weak acids only.
