Discussion on Raga Bhupali continues. In the last lesson, we discussed a Bandish on Tintaal along with Bistar. Now our Guruji Demonstrates on Taan with this Bandish. Since the Bandish is on 16 beat, the taans are on primarily 8, 12, 16, 24 beat. We are sure that students will enjoy this lesson.
Raga Bhupali/Bhoopali/Bhopali is a pentatonic scale (uses 5 notes in ascending and descending scale). Most of the songs in this raga are based on Bhakti rasa. Since it uses 5 notes, belongs to the "Audav jaati" of ragas.

The same raga in Carnatic music is known as Mohanam.

Raga Bhupali, Raga Yaman and Raga Bhairav tend to be the three basic ragas of Hindustani music, learnt first by its students. (ref: Wikipedia).

Surely many of us are waiting to enter this stage. But students are advised to keep patience and to go slow. There is no shortcut way like may other good things. Those who have good practice on the previous lessons, they will get the benefit now.
