I recently took my parents back to China (or the other way around haha) for a whirlwind tour of China's most iconic and beautiful places. I hadn't been back for more than 8 years and it was incredible to see how much it had progressed.

Our first stop was Huang shan | 黄山 | Yellow Mountain - there is a saying in Chinese that once you have seen Huang Shan, you do not need to visit any further mountains. That's how beautiful it is.

Unfortunately we did not realise that weather is incredibly important for this mountain that is over 1,000m high. If it was raining, even drizzling in the township, there was absolutely no way you could see anything on the mountain. Checking the visibility on maps prior to going is key!

Other things we did not realise for our trip in 2024:
Every Wednesday in March was free (low season)
The grand canyon is closed December - March (dangerous)
The Celestial Peak and Lotus Peak rotate every 5 years for openings but both were closed in March

To be honest, it was kind of hilarious but we are so grateful that we stayed longer to catch better weather. Just wait for the scenes in the next video, I was absolutely shocked!!!
