Growing up, my siblings and I were big fans of 1998’s The legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time. As a child, the discovery of this new form of storytelling in games was really fascinating. One particular point in the story that always stuck out to me was when you discover that Link was a Hylian and was saved by his mother.
As a filmmaker I always thought that a live action short film of this story would make an interesting passion project, but since we had already made a Zelda video I wrote it off as something I probably wouldn’t ever work on.
Recently though, we looked through some old footage we had filmed to see if we could make an Oot short film out of our existing assets, and this video is what we came up with.
