LNG catamaran Willem de Vlamingh was launched Januari 19th 2019 in Vung Tau Vietnam.

In 2016, Rederij Doeksen commissioned the Australian firm Strategic Marine to build two new catamarans that will be operating on LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) on the Wadden Sea. Design agency Vripack from Sneek signed for the design of interior and exterior. Both new ships are equipped with innovative applications that make the ships much more economical and substantially cleaner than regular barges.

With the commissioning of mv Willem de Vlamingh and mv Willem Barentsz, a higher level of environmental protection is achieved than legally required. It means a first step towards the LNG transition in the Wadden Sea area (ferry services, inland vessels etc.) and that is good news for the vulnerable environment in the Wadden Sea World Heritage. This project therefore actively contributes to the theme 'Sustainable development of ports and energy transition' from the Pioneers program Waddenfonds 2012-2013. The Waddenfonds awarded Rederij Doeksen a subsidy of € 1,207,500 for this project.
