We are doing our Parkrun alphabet and my wife is training for a marathon, so, after completing Vogrie parkrun, near Edinburgh, to get V, I went for a walk around Musselburgh Lagoons while I waited for my wife to complete a 15 mile training long run.

Musselburgh Lagoons and Levenhall Links is a stunning nature reserve that’s a hotspot for a multitude of birds, from waders such as curlews and redshanks to gulls, terns, geese, and many other feathered creatures. The entire site was originally owned by Scottish Power which used it as a disposal area for ash from the nearby (now demolished) Cockenzie power station. When the power station closed down the area was landscaped in conjunction with RSPB Scotland to form wetlands, and it’s now such a haven for wildlife that it has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Vogrie (boggy place) is a rural, community park in a Victorian estate in Gorebridge to the southeast of Edinburgh. It has 11.5 miles of footpaths through parkland, woodland and the River Tyne valley but this video is around Musselburgh Lagoons. You can find out more about Vogrie Parkrun here:
