Gen Z may never retire. Like the Millenials, our financial situation is pretty bad. When does it end? At what point do we have to acknowledge that Gen Z may never receive social security benefits for retirement. Gen Z may never have the finances or means to retire. Gen Z never even get a home to retire in. Home ownership and financial freedom seem far out of reach for many young adults today. And despite these facts, news articles are coming out, showing that Gen Z isn’t even attempting to fight back against these financial problems.

According to a recent survey, the majority of Generation Z is more concerned with having fun and enjoying experiences today, rather than investing for their future. Personal finances aren’t a top priority for the Generation starting in 1997. Gen Z is instead choosing to live in the moment and ‘figure it out’ tomorrow. And it sort of makes sense, times are hard right now. It’s hard enough just to ‘make it’ day-to-day. It’s hard enough to just ‘get by.’

But nonetheless, between the younger generations’ short-sided decision making and the current state of the United States economy, retirement is looking more and more like a pipedream for Gen Z.

At this rate, Gen Z will never retire.

Or at least, most of Gen Z will never retire.

But is there something that you, the wiser viewer, can do to change this for your future?

I’m not a financial advisor or anything, but I propose that Gen Z kids start investing in self education. It seems as though we’ve got discipline problems, but also an information deficit. If Gen Z starts investing in their own education, through books, courses, and entrepreneurship - I think we may stand a chance in an uncertain future, where retirement (and home ownership) seems impossible.

Let me know what you guys think in the comments!

I love y’all 💙
