Raccoons are one of many predators that eat robin eggs and nestlings, along with other ground-nesting birds. Other predators include:
Chipmunks, Tree squirrels, Magpies, Ravens, Skunks, Foxes, Opossums, and Coyotes
Raccoons are common predators of nests in nest boxes and can attack nests of many animals, including birds and squirrels. Raccoons are strong, stocky animals that are about the size of a house cat or larger. They can be especially dangerous during birthing season and will attack if they feel threatened or perceive a threat to their young. Raccoons use their sharp claws and teeth to attack when they feel threatened and cornered.
