In the past, there was an old man who wandered around building single-pole houses in South Sulawesi. He constructed these mysterious houses as part of a mystical agreement, traveling to Sidrap, Wajo, and other areas to build them.

Over the years, this mysterious man moved from one district to another. One of his creations was a photo of a single-pole house located in Soppeng. The distinctive feature of his houses was having seven windows symbolizing the Universe and being supported by a single pole, representing unity.

According to local testimonies, the mysterious house builder was an elderly grandfather, around 80 years old or more, with a long beard in two colors, white and copper red. The villagers referred to him as "Petta Wanua."

Another single-pole house can be found in Enrekang, in the Maiwa District, and it is also one of the mysterious creations of the old man. The pole of this house bears the name "Sultan Auliyah Shekh Abdul Qadir," and its purpose and significance remain unknown to this day, shrouded in mystery.

Although the elderly man who built these single-pole houses has passed away, the locals claim that he often instructed certain individuals to build similar houses in various regions. They mention that some of these houses were constructed based on the old man's requests, conveyed through clear and vivid dreams.

According to the story from To Riolota, all districts in South Sulawesi have single-pole houses, but some are still preserved, while others have disappeared. Strangely, many of these mysterious houses were built in the middle of forests, like the Jompie Forest and Belawa Forest in Sengkang Wajo.

The Mandar community considers the single-pole house as a symbol representing rice barns from the time of the Mandar Kingdom. In Bugis and Makassar cultures, these houses are known as langkeang, the dwelling place of To Manurung, where he taught people about agriculture and living an honest and wise life.

In the past, there was a rumor spread by elders in South Sulawesi with the phrase "Engka matu tettong bola siddi allirinna, pitu tellongenna, sisengmi celleng, irita manengni yena bolae." While people regarded it as a fairy tale, surprisingly, the single-pole house mentioned in the rumor does exist in the real world!
