I have made a portable vacuum hold down table for the CNC router. The hold down table is a wooden box with a grid of small holes on the top with a larger hole on one side to connect my shop vacuum. When the vacuum is turned on, it pulls air through the plenum within the box which creates suction through the grid of small holes on the top. This suction will hold a flat work piece on the top of the box in position.
