We analysed the physics of Roberto Carlos's free kick in a 1997 Brazil-France match to understand how the ball curves and goes over the barrier, leaving the goalkeeper stunned, and we did so through a never-before-seen 3D animation created by the Geopop team. The effect shot is related to the rotation given to the ball with the outside shot and a physical phenomenon called the Magnus effect.
