La Bamba is a traditional Mexican Folk Song. It was recorded by Ritchie Valens in 1958 as the B side for his single, Donna, and quickly became a hit itself. Valens’ La Bamba was the second all-Spanish language American Hit and Rolling Stone includes it in position 345 of the top 500 Rock and Roll songs of all time. This arrangement is published in Faber’s FunTime Piano Popular book. This arrangement is included in Level 3 on the RCM Popular Selection List, 2022 edition. Pianists may choose to perform a popular selection in place of one Etude during their RCM adjudication.
